An open fire with Weeping Radish glassware at Firetender in Manteo, NC, the flame the restaurant is named for

Who We Are

Our name pays honor to the Algonquians, the indigenous people who made this patch of earth their home.

They began every day with a Sunrise Ceremony to greet the dawn, and the centerpiece of that ceremony was a fire. The one who created and stoked that roaring, leaping fire was the tribe's designated Firetender.

In that same spirit, we have built our restaurant around a flame.
